As stated earlier, William Jackson Fraser was my great grandfather. I intend to look at each of his children in turn.
Ernest William Fraser b 1883
From information from a family member I understand that Ernest returned to Gateshead, the town of his birth, where he joined the Merchant Navy. I am still researching him and his naval career but I understand he made Captain. In later life he returned to Denton in Manchester. I will put more in about him when and if I find anything.
Mary Emma Fraser b 1886
Mary Emma married Arthur Hallows in 1908 and they had four children. One child, Thomas, was born in 1919 and died as an infant.
John Robert Fraser b 1893
When John Robert was born in 1893 and I believe his mother died giving birth to him. I find very little information about John, except 1891, 1901 and 1911 census. On the 1911 census John is 18 years old and a furblowing laborour. Fur-blowing was a part of felt hat making. I have included a link to the description of the job.
On the cenataph in Victoria Park, Denton, there is a mention of a J R Fraser who died in 1916 and I think this may be John as I can find no more information about him. I have research the information I have but cannot find a regiment but I know that he died in France and is buried there. My family member never knew of his existence so I believe he did die during the Great War.
I will continue with William Jackson Frasers children later as I have more information about them to impart.
